Weave II

Weave II, by Sunn Thunders. Music by Flivelwitz Alsop. The pieces are woven together with sine waves - I thought "How appropriate!" The music I created is based on 3 layers -

1) Sine waves. They are tuned to the first 8 notes of the overtone series, and each tone enters according to the first 8 numbers of the fibonacci series. As the sine waves fluctuate in and out, they flow into each other, creating new sets of patterns.

2) short bursts. These short bursts are a quick complex rhythmic pattern using the sine waves as well as a set of light percussive sounds.

3) "Melody". The melody weaves back and forth between the slowness of the sine waves and the shortness of the bursts. I used a VST to create the sound (a mixture of sine and triangle waves), and then added effects.

This second weave is a tad larger than Weave I, but I hope to display it soon.

Headphone Festival

I hope everybody was able to tune into the Placard Headphone Festival on July 3-4 and catch some of it, especially the parts with Dennis Moser and Tina Pearson!
Yesterday was Independence day in America, and I only now have the chance to post this Youtube video of Virgil Fox playing "Variations on America". It's posted over at Sequenza21 as well, but hey, why not?
