The Beast Awakens

The Unrelenting Social Death March is a loose affiliation of musicians and composers; the idea was initiated by Dennis Moser, who also appears as "usr/sbin" (can be found on soundcloud.com and ITunes, etc.,) or "AldoManutio Abruzzo" (when performing in Second Life).
For this year's efforts, the music was brought together by TIm RIsher, composer and musician in North Carolina, and Dennis Moser, who currently resides in Wyoming. Our first efforts are a combination of studio-processed work and live, improvisational performance.

POP Art Breaker

So, Flivelwitz is in collaboration with Sunn Thunders for the Art Breaker Festival at the POP Art Lab. PAL is allowing a collaboration between sculpture and music to guide their festival this year, and so we are hard at work preparing a piece which will represent the music in the art, and represent the art in the music. It should result in a wild sculpture! More news as the opening approaches.

Weave II

Weave II, by Sunn Thunders. Music by Flivelwitz Alsop. The pieces are woven together with sine waves - I thought "How appropriate!" The music I created is based on 3 layers -
1) Sine waves. They are tuned to the first 8 notes of the overtone series, and each tone enters according to the first 8 numbers of the fibonacci series. As the sine waves fluctuate in and out, they flow into each other, creating new sets of patterns.
2) short bursts. These short bursts are a quick complex rhythmic pattern using the sine waves as well as a set of light percussive sounds.
3) "Melody". The melody weaves back and forth between the slowness of the sine waves and the shortness of the bursts. I used a VST to create the sound (a mixture of sine and triangle waves), and then added effects.
This second weave is a tad larger than Weave I, but I hope to display it soon.

Headphone Festival
I hope everybody was able to tune into the Placard Headphone Festival on July 3-4 and catch some of it, especially the parts with Dennis Moser and Tina Pearson!
Yesterday was Independence day in America, and I only now have the chance to post this Youtube video of Virgil Fox playing "Variations on America". It's posted over at Sequenza21 as well, but hey, why not?

New Video Player
As you can see, I have embedded a YouTube video player into our blog here. I hope to show various videos, not only of things from our gallery, but videos of people who have presented concerts or works at our place. I am working out the details for the player, at the moment I can only run videos that I upload to my own channel. But I will be tweaking it over the next few days to get more in.
New Addition - Hooray! I redid the video player, and now it works correctly. I will be able to add or subtract videos at my leisure, and it can be anything I want!

The Second Life 7th Birthday Party opens on Monday, June 21, and I am proud to say that "Heath" by Fuschia Nightfire with music by Tim Risher has been chosen as an exhibit there. With more space to work with, I was able to space out the musical sounds into a wider area, creating music which comes out from all directions.

Today we gave a Chillout Sunday Concert; the guest was AldoManutio Abruzzo. He presented a concert of ambient electronics with guitar. We have rebuilt our stage for all of our concerts - come on by and check it out!
